The German Music History Archive celebrates its 70th birthday!
On October 1, 1954, a free association of renowned musicologists and music librarians - the Musikgeschichtliche Kommission - laid the foundation stone for the Deutsches Musikgeschichtliches Archiv (DMgA), which has been based in Kassel since its foundation. The main task at the time was to gain an overview of the changed source situation for German music history as a result of the Second World War and its consequences, as well as to make manuscripts and prints that were particularly important for the resurgence of music historical research accessible on microfilm.
On the occasion of the anniversary, there is a short report about our archive in the RISM blog, the link to which can be found on the right.
New additions in our online catalogue
From now on, all collections from RISM B/I and B/II available in the DMgA can be searched via our online catalogue. All our treatises from RISM B/VII are also listed there now. Click
