About the "Erbe"
de gb

Das Erbe deutscher Musik is a series of memorials founded in 1933 as a successor to Denkmäler deutscher Tonkunst (published 1892-1931, new edition 1957-1961). The series was originally published by the State Institute for German Music Research. Since 1953, the editions have been supervised by the Musikgeschichtliche Kommission e. V.. The name of the series was deliberately retained when it was re-established in order to keep the project recognisable in its entirety.

The Erbe deutscher Musik comprises a main series with currently 125 volumes, a special series with 16 volumes, as well as the "Reichs- und Landschaftsdenkmalen", which were published by the State Institute for German Music Research between 1933 and 1945. The editions are published by several publishers. The EdM editorial team has been based at the DMgA in Kassel since 2024.
